Medical Waste Workers

 

2 positions available. Both are Monday through Friday.

One will work from 0630 to 1500 and the other will work from 1500 to 2330

 

Relationships: Close communication with Hospital staff

 





Position Summary:

Removal and disposal of all waste in a Medical Facility, including infectious waste.

Collecting from the floors all medical waste and disposal of waste using the dumpster or the sani pak if infectious waste.

 

Essential Responsibilities/Functions:

Routine waste will be picked up from the respective trash holding rooms on a scheduled basis using contained trash carts. Take trash down to dumpster.  Dispose of as directed.

 

Infectious Waste will be designated with proper red bags or special bags marked infectious waste. This waste will be taken to the Sani-Pak and placed into the machine following safe procedures as directed. When the machine has been loaded, set the Sani-Pak controls as directed and run the operation until the infectious waste has been deemed safe to dispose of.

 

Other Responsibilities/Functions:

Clean the areas where waste is stored and disposed of.

 

Qualifications:

 

    Education: High School preferred

 

    License/Certification: Will train

 

  Prior Experience: Helpful but not required

 

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Must be able to read, write English.

 

  Physical: Must be able to lift from 50 to 75 lbs on a regular basis

 

    Material and Equipment Directly Used: Waste handling carts, containers, Sani Pak Sterilizer

 

Working Conditions:

  Work with a large amount of waste on a daily basis.

 

An application may be filled out at HSS Headquarters, 1395 South Platte River Drive, Denver, between 8 AM and 4 PM Monday through Friday.
