Dog Groomer

We provide boarding, grooming and daycare services for little dogs 30 pounds and under and we are looking for a talented groomer who likes working with small dogs.
Little Dogs Resort and Salon (www.littledogsresort.com) is an innovative and unique business providing excellent, safe and personalized care to dogs 30 pounds and under in a cageless environment. The building is decorated with Victorian furniture, books, flowers, television and other comforts of home plus we have large fenced yards for outside play. Pet parents bring their dogs to our facility expecting and receiving excellent service from a happy, loving, caring, well trained and efficient staff.
Job Purpose: Groom each dog according to pet parent instructions and/or according to
breed standard as requested, making sure all dogs are safe and secure at all times.
Key responsibilities:
· Follow instructions provided by pet parent and/or owners regarding grooming.
· On arrival each day, discuss assignments with owners and verify specific grooming instructions and pick-up time for each grooming client.
· Make every effort to provide services as requested by the pet parent. If after examining the dog this is determined not to be possible, notify owner for instructions on how to proceed.
· Complete grooming in a timely manner and communicate to owners when grooming is finished.
· Interact with staff and owners to establish role of competent, consistent, reliable and approachable groomer with the best interests of dogs and pet parents always a priority.
· Plan and prioritize workload to meet needs of each dog.
· Work with owners and other groomer to prioritize work in a positive, helpful and explicit manner.
· Set and meet workload goals for each day’s work.
· Model excellent customer service and individualized dog care.
· Communicate clearly in a positive and supportive manner in interactions with dogs, staff, clients, managers and owners.
· Demonstrate a calm and reassuring demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to ensure continued safety.
· Plan, identify and communicate issues and act to ensure smooth flow of operations.
· Create groomer record for each new client; enter information regarding each grooming session; update information or changes as needed.
· Constantly review environment to identify potential problems with dogs and intervene accordingly to assure safety at all times.
· Manage multiple situations simultaneously, efficiently and in a confidence-inspiring manner.
· Maintain safe, secure and predictable work environment.
· Identify and communicate health-related issues in a timely manner to management.
· Exercise good judgment in decision making, communicating information to owners in a reliable and timely manner.
· Provide and maintain personal equipment needed for grooming.
Skills/Qualifications:
At least 3 years of full time, professional grooming experience. Familiarity with breed standard cuts for little dogs; excellent customer service skills; positive and reassuring verbal communication skills; physical agility combined with high energy level and ability to lift up to 40 pounds; ability to be supportive of staff and foster teamwork; self-directed and efficient at time management and multi-tasking in rapidly changing environment; patience; attention to detail; emotional control; ability to accept critique of performance and change behaviors as indicated; reassuring manner; a sense of humor and an ability to keep things in perspective.
