Warehouse/Distribution Manager 

 

The Warehouse/Distribution Manager role has been established to support and achieve White Engineered Products, WKEP’s, goals and priorities relating to the consolidation of our distribution locations into one location.  This is a highly visible roll reporting to the Plant Manager and will be essential in meeting our goal of excellence in distribution and warehousing. The position is located in Childersburg, Alabama which is approximately 30 miles south of Birmingham.

As part of our team the Warehouse/Distribution Manager shall:

Direct management of personnel and hands on participation in the operation of the warehouse.  This will include coordination of activities to meet internal and external customer requirements, assignment of duties and general oversight of operations.

 

Participate in the consolidation four different operating divisions into a company owned warehouse.

 

Resolve disputes in lost shipments, short shipment or the damage shipments.

 

Evaluate and recommend opportunities for distribution and warehouse improvements.

 

Work to improve accuracy of shipments and establish processes to ensure consistent quality throughout the distribution process.

 

Work closely with the Director of Supply Chain Management dealing with issues such as packaging, international shipments and process automation.

 

Work closely with manufacturing to anticipate and deal with customer requirements and manufacturing constraints. 

 

Work with Inventory Manager to control and ensure inventory accuracy, to include planned physical counts and scheduled cycle counts.

 

 

 

Requirements

 

1. 5+ Years Experience in warehouse or distribution experience.  Preferably in the management of multiple small and large orders on a daily basis.

2. Background in working with shipping and trucking companies for the evaluation and negotiation of rates.

3. Experience with various types of equipment including stock pickers and forklifts.

4. Effective oral and written communication skills using language and style appropriate to the audience and context. Working knowledge of personal computer applications such as Excel and Word.

5. Creative problem solving abilities

6. Ability to work well independently and as part of a team

7. A positive attitude to diversity and the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with customers and contract manufacturers of different cultures

8. Rapidly and accurately identifies key issues or action in complex situations

9. Familiar with National Motor Freight Classifications

10. Experienced in shipping internationally

11. Familiar with US Customs required documentation

12. Experience with MAPICs Enterprise Resource Planning a plus
