Technical Designer- Children's wear

Summary: The Technical Designer’s role is overseeing the transition of our children’s wear merchandise from design concept to a final prototype ready for production. 

 

Responsibilities:

· Collaborate with business partners to establish the initial spec and construction detail and establish consensus of fit intent.

· Execute design and fit intent into bulk production while maintaining corporate standards

· Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate fit intent and construction to vendors.

· Analyze and predict potential production, quality and costing issues and make recommendations to ensure brand integrity.

· Confirm compliance of garment to specifications and fit direction.

· Communicate fit and balance issues via pattern diagram or directly on pattern.

· Supervise fit session and take initiative of specific products

· Oversee seasonal deadlines are met

 

Qualifications:

· AA or certification in Apparel Manufacturing, Design, Patternmaking or equivalent ·Expertise in patternmaking including grading, construction and fit

· Strong computer skills: computer pattern programs and spec writing programs: ADS, Gerber and Gerber PDM, Letra. As well as MS Office and Lotus notes a plus.

· Preferred 3 years experience in the Apparel Industry with a focus on patternmaking and/or construction experience. Experience in children’s wear a plus.

· Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year (either domestic or international)

· Knowledge of construction standards and manufacturing methods

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

 ·Organizational skills and ability to multi-task
