Big Dog Holdings Inc. operates two nationally recognized retail chains. Big Dog Sportswear and The Walking Company are leaders in apparel and comfort footwear retailing.  Located in Santa Barbara, CA, we seek a motivated professional to join our team and make a difference.  We are currently looking for a self motivated Pre Production Coordinator with an ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. This is a great opportunity to learn and grow professionally.

 

Duties and Responsibilities for the position include:

 

· Responsible for creating and modifying garment specifications based upon existing fits and new market samples.

· Responsible for grading garment specifications.

· Manage Work In Process report: must track WIP for apparel lines, communicating on a regular basis with everyone involved (Production, Product Development) and keeping track of approvals (trim, strike-off, samples).

· Manage approval timeline, alerting Production and Product Development department when production delays might compromise shipdate.

· Manage sample approval process, working with Product Development and Merchandising on a daily basis to communicate changes to the vendors.

· Organize and move samples to storage area at the end of each season.  Must be able to locate samples from past seasons as needed during approval process.

· Create, revise and update specification and trim sheets.

· Coordinate fitting sessions, making suggestions on possible changes to enhance fit and look.  Update report. 

· Maintain spec sheet library, updating it as soon as specs are revised and creating history records for each spec.

· Visit the retail store on a regular basis to check quality and fit.

· Work with QC department to make sure that they have approved production sample for proper QC inspection.

· Work with Import Dept. to ensure that product is shipped only after samples have been approved and testing reports have passing results.

 

Desired Experience for the position:

 

· Direct experience in garment production which includes the creation of specs and tech packages and measuring garments.

· Experience in communicating with overseas vendors and/or trading companies.

· Excellent written communication skills. 

· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Illustrator.

· Preferred experience in Lotus Notes.

· Preferred experience in pattern making.
