Apparel Developer

The S Group is an apparel design, development and sourcing company in Portland, Oregon looking for a full-time Apparel Developer who will communicate and manage all necessary information both internally and externally with our client in Boston MA.  This position will be based in Boston MA. 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Translates the clients design vision and product needs with our manufacturing liaison offices in Asia and South America.

Ownership for entire project management process for assigned products, with an emphasis on quality product development and timely completion of all tasks in accordance with the clients operating calendar
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with each business unit; Design, Materials Development, Quality and Production, managing designated projects to ensure an on time product delivery.

Must be able to generate product bill of materials and size specification package to be used for proto type and ultimately production product. A key process is making sure that all BOM’s and specifications are complete and 100% accurate before sending off-shore.

Engineer workable prototypes that address desired function, cosmetics, market appeal and manufacturability, which includes checking of prototypes arriving for quality and fit and conduct fitting sessions with Pattern team
Ensure that new projects are engineered in accordance with cost targets (pre-costing) and ensure that initial cost quotes are available
Conduct pre-costing process in accordance with Costing procedures and review with Costing team

Numerous organizational tasks and communications responsibilities including Article Description and all technical data completion;  e-mail, phone & fax communication world-wide.
Take a leading role in the pre-allocation of all development projects based on service and product needs

 

Experience Requirements

Degree in clothing technology and/or manufacturing or comparable degree from Textile School
4 years minimum related work experience in garment/textile industry

Excellent understanding of the entire garment manufacturing process from fabric knitting/dyeing all the way through to final quality inspection and packaging.

Must be able to work efficiently without supervision.
Fluent English (verbal and written)
IT-skills (e-mail, MS Office programs)

 

An excellent compensation package is dependent upon experience.
