Lead Forwarding Operations Agent

Summary Arranges the movement of freight by various transportation methods, including Air, Ocean, and Ground, on behalf of exporters and importers for DHL's import, export, trans-border and domestic product lines. Serves as the single point of coordination (i.e. "middleman") between customers, customs brokers, and shipping carriers.

Tasks & Accountabilities
Completes coordination between all applicable parties for all air, ocean, or ground import and export shipments. Ensures service commitments are achieved and maintained in accordance with client and company objectives. Prepares documents necessary to complete customs clearance process. Helps ensure that the quality system is implemented and maintained within area of responsibility. Negotiates letters of credit. Prepares, issues, and submits documentation to ensure proper importation/exportation of cargo. Provides clients with advice concerning terms of delivery and payment, insurance, services (air, ocean, or transport), or other matters affecting client needs. Arranges for consolidation and/or deconsolidation of containers. Ensures invoicing of rendered services is completed accurately and in a timeframe consistent with company policy.

Skills & Qualifications
Subject matter expert in service, production, or support area of responsibility. Performs all of the standard and all of the specialized and most complex aspects of the function. Technical certification or Associate degree may be required in some areas. Generally 4+ or more years of experience in related area of responsibility.
