Director, Operations, Distribution

Purpose and Scope: Work with Senior Management in formulating and administering organization strategies, processes and policies to maintain and improve the competitive position and profitability of the operation as a whole.




Responsibilities:



Focus on formulating and executing business strategies that will enhance the Company’s competitive position.
Benchmark against competition in key areas such as costs, customer service and best practices and drives to achieve results.
Oversee multiple operational departments/functions within the organization.
Develop performance partnerships with functions throughout the facility and company.
Increase the capacity of the organization by developing complete understanding and commitment to short and long term business plans, objectives, core competencies, and required skill sets.
Build the organization around a functional understanding and application of existing and future technology.
Confer with top management and other administrative personnel to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions.
Formulate and implement policies and procedures to facilitate processes and clarify and correct procedural problems.
Analyze activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine operation’s progress toward stated goals and objectives.


Job Requirements:



High school or equivalent. Prefer associates or bachelor’s degree.
At least 10 years experience with some combination of operations including warehouse, assembly/production, logistics, transportation and supply chain management.
Detailed knowledge of business practices and keen judgment in applying policies and adapting standard methods to accomplish goals.
Experience in start up of new operations and Union/Non-union.
Demonstrated ability to set up large project implementation.
Ability to manage, work independently, and prioritize a very demanding workload.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Confident with computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access and business math skills.
Manage and oversee the work of others.
Strong presentation and communication skills.
