Commodity Manager / Technical Buyer

Seeking experienced Buyer with experience executing global supply chain initiatives, strategic planning, and global procurement. Will plan and implement activities for timely, cost-effective procurement, planning and on-time delivery of assigned commodity products. Prioritize and maintain balance between cost of acquisition and cost of possession to maximize return on investment.

 

Additional responsibilities include:
Provide supplier evaluation and selection, contract drafting and negotiation, relationship management, business awards.
Participate and support in design and development teams, and new product introduction.
Develop and maintain technology and/or commodity strategies and meet cost, quality, and delivery goals.
Negotiate annual buys and long-term agreements.
Coordinate efforts to review make vs. buy decisions, supplier quality improvement, advance quality planning and continuous improvement.
Provide product availability to Production Control and Manufacturing.

 

Requirements:
Ability to read and interpret engineering/fabrication drawings and specifications.
Ability to manage sub-contract suppliers with high volume/value fabricated parts/component contracts in both foreign and domestic markets.
Working knowledge of assembly and manufacturing processes.
Thorough knowledge of Purchasing Law and Uniform Commercial Code. 
Strong organizational, analytical and negotiating skills.
Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Project.
Bachelors degree from a 4-year college or university; 7-10 years related experience.
Purchasing in a manufacturing/engineered product environment.
Experience in executing Global Supply Chain initiatives, strategic planning, and global procurement.
Materials management, JIT, MRP-II & Working Capital.
APICS certification preferred.

 
Travel to Asia required quarterly and to Suppliers as needed.
