Assistant Store Manager

 The Assistant Manager is responsible for helping the General Manager develop a positive Petland culture on the sales floor that results in a team of Pet Counselors delivering the Petland Mission.

 When the General Manager is not present the Assistant Manager is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of store operation are performed to the Petland standard. 

 

Job Requirements:

• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

• Ability to follow operating systems and directions from General Manager and/or Store

Franchisee.

• Flexibility and stamina to work retail hours.

• Ability to perform basic math skills.

• Ability to work with a team of employees as well as other department heads to ensure that business goals are met.

Responsibilities:

• Must use the Petland Mission, 5-Step Sale and 4-Basic Needs sheets to provide great customer service.

• Must teach, educate, influence, persuade, motivate and develop Pet Counselors.

• Must have a floor presence and constantly direct Pet Counselors toward customer interaction.

• Must maintain a high standard of appearance and professionalism for ones self and staff by maintaining good hygiene and the Petland uniform.

• Ensure that employees maintain strong customer counts, high average tickets and dollars per hour through; monitoring, use and review of employee scorecards.

• Monitor and affect sales by department and sub-department, as well as the ratios between pets and the corresponding supplies.

• Positively affect staff morale and culture for both sales performance and community relationships.• Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager and/or store franchisee.
