Temporary Research Associate (4145BR)

As part of a dedicated team, participate in all activities relating to the production of transgenic plants, including sterile tissue culture medium preparation, plant transformation, plant tissue culture, transfer and establishment of plants in soil, and standard record-keeping duties.

 

Duties/ResponsibilitiesPrepare plant tissue culture media on a weekly basis. Propagate plant materials in tissue culture using good sterile technique. Transfer callus tissues and embryos to new selection plates. Transplant events into soil.Educational Qualifications DesiredMinimum of Bachelor’s Degree in a science field (biotechnology, biology, plant physiology, horticulture, biochemistry, etc.), with an emphasis in plant-related coursework.Competencies and Experience Desired

Minimum of 2 years academic or industrial lab experience with knowledge of plant tissue culture techniques. Experience in using balances, pH meters, autoclaves, and preparing solutions. Attention to detail and good record-keeping skills. Ability to sit and work in a sterile laminar flow hood for long periods. Able to learn quickly and carry out repetitive work within a team environment.
