Research and Development Engineer
Mitsubishi Chemical USA, Inc. is recruiting for the position of Research and Development Engineer working out of Los Angeles, California for our state-of-the-art Mitsubishi Kagaku Imaging manufacturing facility in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Education and Experience:
A minimum of an Associates degree in Mechanical Concentration, preferred. Typically, 3 to 5 years of cartridge remanufacturing experience. Areas of knowledge include: electrical/electronics, firmware, mechanical, electromechanical, computers, quality/reliability.
Summary of essential job functions:
For the position of Customer / Cartridge Support Engineer, the following job functions are expected:
Provide technical solutions to the customer and imaging market .
- Respond to customer complaints
- Identify root cause and provide a long-term solution to the customer
- Understand and be able to demonstrate remanufacturing of cartridges
Organize and lead the technical issues working with the customers, sales team, R&D team, production team and QC team to solve or improve system performance.
Collect and monitor market changes
- Identify specific demands and provide a summary report
- Communicate market information with relevant team members in timely manner
Understand market and technology trends in the field of imaging materials by visiting the customers, reading technical papers, journals, and patents and by attending technical seminars or conferences.
Lead specific projects in support of the above responsibilities.
Request when needed support from the Development Resource Center in Chesapeake, VA, to support the technical needs of the customer.
§ Helps identify cartridge problems, troubleshooting and determining whether a problem is a result of design or manufacturing process.
§ Participates with the Market Technical Support Group in defining product specifications for components used in the remanufacture of laser printer cartridges.
· Communicates (as directed) with customers regarding new product designs. Helps customers to integrate product by means of training or product documentation or determine necessary changes based on customer needs.
· Has a solid knowledge within specialty area of toner cartridge remanufacturing and the ability to apply this knowledge.
· Makes decisions independently and can logically and statistically support recommendations and decisions.
Equipment Used:
Computer terminal, laser printers, densitometers, electrometers, electromechanical measuring devices, fixtures and tools.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to determine a practical solution to a product design requirement or specific customer requirement. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Must work as a ‘team’ player and must be willing to travel.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to find, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
The employee must occasionally left and/or move up to30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
