The Research Manager is the key person conducting marketing research projects at MarketTools.  Many projects are based on our standardized methods for concept testing, sorts, product testing and trackers, though customization is always needed.  This person will consult with sales regarding the appropriate survey instrument, review/edit proposals, develop the survey instrument and analysis plan, and then provide an insightful, actionable report to the client.  Clients include senior marketing research/marketing personnel at Fortune 500 companies, many in consumer package goods.

 

Responsibilities:

• Provides consultation to clients and sales regarding marketing research design and methodology to achieve the client’s business needs.

• Designs standard and custom international, quantitative, internet-based marketing research studies.

o  Identifies where advanced analytics are necessary and brings in Advanced Analytic team members for consultation where appropriate.

o  Writes internet questionnaires that meet the objectives of the study.

o  Develops the analysis approach, including the tab and banner plan and higher level analyses.

o  Transitions study to Project Implementation team for deployment and execution

o  Writes clear, insightful, actionable reports.

o  Provides direction and clarification to Project Implementation Managers throughout the life of the project to insure crisp execution.

• Identifies client business needs and proposes additional research projects to meet those needs.

• Continually evaluates and recommends new methods or approaches.  When appropriate, initiates process improvements by leading the team involved.

• Fosters a positive environment of teamwork, while maintaining personal accountability.

 

Qualifications:

• 4-8 years marketing research experience, particularly on the supplier side.

o  Experience with Fortune 500 marketing research clients highly desirable; experience in consumer packaged goods marketing research a plus.

• Broad knowledge base of research methodologies, such as concept testing, sorts, product testing and trackers and ability to design each of them.

• Experience writing questionnaires.

• Ability to review proposals.

• Deep understanding of data analysis and how to turn data into insights.

• Understanding of advanced analytics (e.g. factor analysis, discriminant analysis, etc.) in terms of knowing when they should be used and how to interpret results.

• Attention to detail coupled with being able to identify and articulate broad, strategic implications.

• Strong communication skills, oral and written – especially with Sales and senior research personnel.

• Able to manage the design and analysis of multiple research projects simultaneously.

• Creative approach to solving business issues.

• BS/BA in Marketing, Quantitative Analysis or related field.  MBA a strong plus.

• Able to work in Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
