Job Developer

JOB DEVELOPER (2 PART-TIME POSITIONS)

(Categorically funded position.  Continuation of position is contingent upon funding.)

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Program Manager or Coordinator, the Job Developer will secure paid and unpaid employment opportunities within the community; match business and industry needs with skills and training of San Bernardino Valley College Students; work closely with department of Public Social Services and the Economic Development Department (EDD) in assisting students to meet CalWorks, Workability III or Federal Work study guidelines.

 

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Duties may include, but are limited to, the following:

· Establish and maintain close working relationships with public agencies such as EDD, DPSS, JESD, and WIB in order to assist students find employment opportunities and meet applicable program guidelines.

· Make presentations at community organizations and businesses to solicit work sites.

· Build and maintain relationships with local area employers in order to develop and secure employment positions for student clients in community.

· Promote the advantages of hiring and/or training specific program clients to employers.

· Provide job search assistance to student clients, in areas such as application and resume writing, interview skills and use of job placement and career guidance materials and community resources.

· Interview, select and refer student clients to job openings.

· Administer interest, aptitude and occupational scales as a part of overall screening of student clients for appropriate job referrals.

· Maintain continued contact with student clients and employer after placement to monitor success.

· Develop a documentation system to satisfy program guidelines, to include monthly program placement reports and mandated program reporting.

· Plan and coordinate activities such as job fairs and workshops for students on job search, employment skills, interviewing, communication and workforce behavior.  May present workshops on campus and within the community as needed.

· Depending on program assignment, may work with various, specialized segments of the student population.

· Perform other related activities as assigned.

 

 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSAssociate of Arts or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two (2) years of experience working in the area of employment and training with an emphasis on job placement including experience working with diverse populations.Possess and maintain a valid and clear California Driver’s License and provide own transportation (Requirement of California Driver’s License may be waived provided that employee can demonstrate alternate means of transportation acceptable to the District to and from site visitations).

 

 

SALARY & BENEFITS

$1,392.70 to $1,693.38 per month, APPLE Retirement (employee contributes 6.2%), CSEA Union (Employee contributes 1.5%, to a maximum of $32.63).

 

 

WORKING HOURS

 

8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (1 Position)

1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (1 Position)

 

 

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of job placement and referral techniques and skills; job search, workforce behavior, and employment and interviewing skills; labor market and industry employment needs.  Working knowledge of applicable federal and state program guidelines and regulations such as Job Employment Services Division (JESD) regulations, and employment law and regulations including FLSA, ADA, FMLA, etc.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team; organize information and prepare reports and presentations using Microsoft Office Suite; maintain necessary documentation; interact with public and private agencies; communicate effectively orally and in writing; make presentations to large and small groups and to work with diverse populations.
