Google is looking for an experienced leader for the role of Global Infrastructure Research Manager.

The Global Infrastructure team is responsible for the strategy, acquisition, implementation, and maintenance of relationships with strategic suppliers and partners to expand and grow Google's operational presence on a worldwide basis.

This includes finding optimal solutions to Google's ongoing needs for datacenter capacity; working closely with network carriers to obtain capacity for expansion and growth of both Google's global backbone and Google's voice capabilities; and meeting the operational sourcing requirements for new products, services, and initiatives prior to launch. By applying a unique blend of business and technology experience, our team works closely with both outside parties and internal teams to find creative, cost effective, and often unusual solutions to meet Google's ongoing growth and expansion needs in North America and around the world.

The Research Manager will work with other members of the Global Infrastructure team to identify opportunities for in depth research and analysis and will be responsible for the research and analytical team supporting our technical infrastructure expansion efforts. The ideal candidate will have skills in business and financial planning and analysis; extensive technical knowledge of telecommunications and datacenter deployment; and experience training and leading a team.

Responsibilities: Work with the Global Infrastructure leadership to identify problems and opportunities for further exploration, and identify out of the box solutions for expansion and growth of Google's technical infrastructure. Determine and drive the research and analysis required to solve identified questions. Effectively train and lead a team of analysts responsible for gathering the information needed to make business decisions via the web, analyst reports, legal documentation, and external parties relevant to the problem at hand. Analyze and synthesize findings; develop recommendations and communicate results to leadership teams. Monitor trade publications and build deep industry knowledge of the telecommunications, networking, and datacenter space to identify unique opportunities that might otherwise be missed.Requirements:Bachelors degree, preferably from a leading institution; degree in computer science, engineering, or other technical field required. 3-5 years work experience, including experience leading a team and conducting financial and business analysis. Technical knowledge relating to telecommunications, networking, and datacenters required. Distinctive problem solving and analysis skills coupled with demonstrated business acumen. Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. Strong Internet skills, Excel financial modeling experience, and PowerPoint development skills. International experience for professional, academic, or personal endeavors and foreign language skills strongly preferred.
