Regional Purchasing Manager-South

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Purchasing Manager is responsible for the management of a number of purchased product categories for Ox Bodies.  This includes supplier, inventory and purchase transaction management, control and reporting.  The Purchasing manager also supervises and directs buyers and inventory analysts.

Receives:  Director of Supply Chain
Gives: Buyers and Inventory Analysts

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Qualifies, selects, negotiates with and establishes agreements with suppliers for goods and services, negotiating the best possible service, quality and price.

Purchases or oversees the purchasing of production materials and components including, but not limited to: steel, steel tubing, metal castings, hydraulics, pumps, motors, axles, outside processing services and purchase for resale items.

• Establishes Purchasing and Inventory policies, procedures, processes, controls and reports and ensures compliance at designated sites

• Develops and implements strategies and plans to improve purchasing and inventory management for all purchased categories.

• Provides forecasts, budgets and reports to management of purchasing and inventory activity, trends and savings.

• Negotiates blanket purchase orders when appropriate and monitors cost during the time period.

• Monitors and reviews purchasing and inventory systems to verify that all transactions are properly recorded and recognized.

• Develops and utilizes programs to forecast, establish, plan and monitor inventory levels to minimize inventory and provide uninterrupted supply to manufacturing

• Monitors market conditions, pricing and trends for all product categories purchased for Ox Bodies.

Works closely with Sales and Manufacturing to support production schedules and to anticipate, prevent or resolve material shortages and overstock.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education

• Bachelor Degree, in a business related area

2. Specific Skills

• Negotiating skills 

• Proficient with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access

• Organizational skills for efficient office control are mandatory

• Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts

• Solid decision making skills

3. Experience

• Five to 10 years of purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Two years experience purchasing steel

Two years inventory management experience

Two years supervisory experience
