Purchasing Agent

Responsibilities:  This role is responsible for ensuring compliance to GP's policies and procedures as a member of the Mill Procurement team.  Expectations include, but not limited to:  Procurement of chemical and packaging requirements; purchase of various commodities and services; establish purchase agreements and develop legal contracts; ensure timely resolution of vendor payment issues; support corporate and regional initiatives as needed; identify and pursue cost reduction opportunities; support and initiate continuous improvement processes to maximize the value of contracts.

 

Education:  Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 yrs. experience in procurement field, or a minimum of 10-15 yrs. of equivalent Purchasing Agent work experience.

 

Basic Qualification:  Knowledge of procurement associated legal principles, policies, and procedures; fundamental financial analysis; negotiating and decision making skills; problem solving; strong computer skills.

 

Competencies:  Initiative, sense of urgency, candor, integrity, accountability, organizational skills and teamwork.  Understanding of procurement policies and procedures.  Strong verbal and written communication skills.
