Currently we are seeking a Purchasing Manager to add to our top-notch, talented team of quality professionals. 

 

Responsibilities of the Purchasing Manager:

·  Primary responsibility is to manage the procurement of materials and services at the lowest cost, in the most efficient manner possible

·  Manage purchase orders for assigned commodities or customers’ production requirements, and related manufacturing supplies, based on MRP demands as well as exception requirements

·  Manage RFQ’s and evaluate supplier bids and contracts

·  Negotiate supplier contracts and place blanket PO’s where appropriate and cost effective

·  Coordinate outside processing with sub-contractors

·  Coordinate supplier involvement in product development efforts

·  Manage the qualification of new suppliers

·  Manage and develop relationships with suppliers to reduce costs and improve quality including on-time deliveries

·  Oversee expedite activities

·  Work with Quality and Engineering to resolve quality challenges

·  Work with finance to resolve potential invoice/PO variances

·  Continuously train junior members of the procurement team in all aspects of purchasing

 

Required education, experience and attributes of a successful candidate for our Buyer positions:

·  Detailed knowledge of commercial electronics and components such as passives & ICs (an absolute must), including military specifications and contract requirements

·  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

·  3 -5 years experience in a contract manufacturing environment as a buyer, involved in turnkey projects

·  Minimum 2 years managing a procurement staff of 3 or more buyers

·  Experienced in implementing and managing Kanban systems

·  Experienced in and thorough knowledge of MRP, Bill of Materials, Inventory and Production Control, including automated purchase order systems

·  Experienced in procuring PCB’s, fabricated items (sheet metal, injection molded and machined), electronic commodities (passive and active components), cable assemblies and process/MRO materials to support production

·  Ability to read blueprints, manufacturer’s data sheets, fabrication and assembly drawings

·  Familiarity with schematics and Gerber files

·  Ability to negotiate favorable terms and continuously improve pricing for materials and services

·  Proven track record of positive and long-standing relationships with vendors and suppliers

·  Ability to source new and alternative vendors and suppliers

·  Proficient in Excel and Word

·  Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision

·  Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate with project managers, co-workers, as well as all departments in the company

·  Must be detail oriented within a fast-paced environment

·  APICS certification is desirable
