GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform MRO Purchasing activities in support of Manufacturing and Engineering goals and objectives for Mercury Marine. An independent and self motivated individual to drive projects successfully to completion with minimal supervision.
Perform various assigned tasks and fill in for MRO/Capital Equipment Buyers or as directed by the Director, Indirect Procurement. Recommend objectives and initiate appropriate actions for her/his area of responsibility to meet department goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performance will be measured by the individual''s ability to meet Strategic and Tactical needs of the business:
Drive Cost Reduction Activities to lower Total Cost of Ownership
Place purchase orders for new and existing goods and/or services
Identify and develop qualified suppliers that meet division''s standards
Clarify internal Customer needs to ensure timely and efficient preparation of RFx, requisitions and Purchase Orders
Analyze quotations from new or current suppliers for goods and services in a manner that is consistent with the sourcing strategy
Ensure that using departments submit requisitions correctly
Expedite delivery of MRO goods as may be required from time to time
Fill in for MRO/Capital Equipment Buyers or as directed
Assist and Manage Sourcing activities as related to Manufacturing, Engineering and R&D Organizations
Setup Sourcing rules in ERP systems and manage approved suppliers
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Professionally resolve problems (both internal and external) in a fair and ethical manner while protecting the long term interests of the division
Identify and capitalize on multi-site opportunities to reduce the division''s total cost of ownership for all assigned commodities
Manage assigned supply base by implementing continuous improvement programs focused on reducing the division''s total cost of ownership
Provide up-to-date and expert advice to Mercury Marine leadership on the latest issues and developments affecting maintenance, repair, and operating goods and services, and purchasing administration
Good project management skills are desired.
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication, cost management and writing skills
MS Office: Computer proficiency with standard software packages, including Word, Power Point, and Excel.
Leads coordination of resources and schedules between multiple departments including Supply Chain, Purchasing, Marketing, Service, and Engineering
Bachelor''s (BS or BA) degree or equivalent; Operations Management, Supply Chain or Purchasing emphasis preferred;
CPM required within 12 months after being in position
Three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
A minimum of 3 - 5 years of demonstrated competency in procurement, supply chain, Engineering, operations, or finance.
MS Eng, MBA, and CPIM are a plus
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries from suppliers and internal customers. Ability to effectively present information to supervisor and managers in using departments.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply mathematical operations such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER OPERATIONS
Proficient personal computer skills including email, database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics.
Experience with Oracle 11i or other ERP systems a plus.
PLANNING/ORGANIZATION
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
