F/T Career. Starting Salary Range: $41,900-$59,950/annually. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The work performed by a Buyer III consists primarily of soliciting quotations for and negotiating a medium volume of routine, standard, complex and specialized transactions of various commodities and services as assigned. Work is assigned from incoming electronic requisitions and requests from departments for assistance prior to the requisition. The Buyer is responsible for all purchases awarded from $10,000 to $150,000 and processes transactions in excess of $150,000 under the direction and approval of the Purchasing Manager. The Buyer III determines the priority of incoming and current assignments and is responsible for every transaction assigned. Duties are performed under the general supervision of the Purchasing Manager. The nature of supervision from the Purchasing Manager includes advice on drafting requests for proposals and complex purchase contracts, minimal assistance on documenting negotiation plans and assistance in interpretation of contract language.

• Ability to learn applicable University Business and Finance Bulletins and Procurement's internal operating polices, applicable state and federal regulations and general contract and grant terms related to procurement (including funding conditions, screening and allowable purchases)

• Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a diverse campus client base

• Knowledge and understanding of specific commodity assignments

• Ability to be professional in the presentation of information, responsive to the needs of clients, courteous, and helpful

• Ability to exhibit tact and diplomacy while interacting with others, either in person or over the telephone
