JOB TITLE: BUYER

DEPARTMENT: PURCHASING

 

JOB SUMMARY: Works autonomously, to quote and place orders for products, obtain favorable prices, items, and terms to further ensure quality and timely delivery of orders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Negotiates (custom, etc) purchase agreements and prices with vendors.

Contact vendors to verify product availability and to obtain price quotes.

May review and assist orders to be placed by buyers each day.

May review quote requests of buyers each day.

Locates more economical sources and improved deliveries of products.

May develop specifications on custom items and place orders for new products.

Must have working knowledge of the market value of all products purchased.

Must advise sales force on market trends and product availability.

Setup, update, and monitor system for Autobuys (Quantities, costing, lead time and ROP).

Performs miscellaneous duties as deemed appropriate by supervisor or manager..

Keep all possible business in house.

Negotiates purchase agreements and prices with vendors.

Contacts vendors to verify product availability and to obtain price quotes.

Able to identify best economic levels to purchase for custom inventory and negotiate with vendors to keep inventory levels low and turnaround high.

Places orders with vendors.

Able to spec. samples to insure proper size and styles of cartons.

Locates and obtains more economical sources of products.

Ability to guide sales reps to alternative options for packaging customers' products.

May develop specifications and place orders for new products.

Service customers and sales representatives.

Take customer calls, orders, follow-ups, and problems.

Quote customers.

Assists Sales Force.
