Publications Manager

The National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), a global leader in accredited certification, continuing education, solutions and tools for health, fitness, sports-performance and sports medicine professionals has an immediate opening for a Publications Manager in its Mesa, AZ office.

 

Summary:

Provide leadership and coordination in the planning, development and implementation of integrated education, communications, marketing, and publications initiatives in health and fitness.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:Works in collaboration with senior management officials to plan, develop, and implement internal and external communications projects and initiatives with broad focus as to objective and content.

 Develops, and manages all aspects of the production and publication of the e-journal magazine

 Create documentation schedules in collaboration with Directors and lead writers

 Requires strong strategic and tactical project management experience, business/functional management expertise, and high-level project oversight exposure

 Oversees work flow of editorial projects to completion within specified budgets and deadlines

 Liaison between company and outside associates such as freelance writers, editors, and content providers

 Initiates and/or replies to correspondence regarding material being published or considered for publication

 Maintain team doc and style guides and perform final post production tasks, as required

 Works closely with the Education Director and other creative/business team staff to plan, develop, and manage content for e-journal

 Candidates will possess excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with confidence, strong project management skills, and communicate with all professional levels of personnel & management with tact, vision, comfort and confidence

 Interpersonal skills and presentation are extremely important and will be assessed at a critical level

 Attend seminars, conferences, and specialized classes to keep abreast of changes in information technology, developments in corporate communications strategies and technologies, usability studies, print and web standards and practices, and research, standards and practices in instructional technologies

 

Qualifications:Degree required with a minimum of 2 years of Managing Editor experience with a publication either print or onlineProven editorial skills including writing and editingAbility to organize, prioritize, and multitask effectivelyThrive in a fast paced, on-time delivery environment

 

Experience in or a passion for the fitness industry is a plus!
