Logan Simpson Design Inc. is aggressively seeking an energetic GIS Technician to prepare geographical maps and graphics for the Environmental departments and Landscape Architecture teams.  The selected individual must work well with others, have a thorough knowledge of geographical and graphic concepts and demonstrate competent ability to transform them using various mediums.  This person must also be dependable, organized, able to multi-tasking, and detail-oriented.  Salary DOE.  Immediate opening.

 

Essential Duties:

These duties may vary depending on job assignment and firm needs.

§ Prepares, with supervision, maps utilizing AutoCad or MicroStation and ArcView with consistent adherence to company quality control procedures.

§ Use various CAD/GIS/graphic tools and technologies to transform geographical and graphic concepts into various mediums that may include Web sites, PowerPoint presentations, printed material, and presentation exhibits.

§ Must be able to communicate and coordinate, professionally, with outside departments.

§ Demonstrates ability to work on less complex projects with little supervision

§ Performs quality control on less complex projects

§ Interact and work as a team member and respond to assignments given in a positive, professional manner.

 

Education/Experience Requirements:

§ Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geography or related environmental field preferred. 

§ Competent knowledge of ArcView (v9.x) either through schooling or related field with two to four years of experience or equivalent combination.

§ A working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.

§ A working knowledge of plotter, and printer support skills is required.

§ A working knowledge of different graphic design applications is preferred, including at least some of the following: Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint, and InDesign.

§ A working knowledge or proficiency in Microstation or AutoCAD preferred.

§ Effective verbal and written communication skills.
