Art Director

Working Ranch magazine, published 4x a year, is looking for a part-time art director. In this capacity you would do the following each quarterly issue:

 Design and layout approximately five feature stories and adjust photos.Using existing templates, design and layout the 15 or so departments and columnsCheck all supplied ads (most are camera-ready) for technical issues.Prepare files for printing as lock-down PDF’s.

 

The successful candidate will:

 Be fast and dependable. You will be expected to get the issue done in a 45-day window.Have great references attesting to your creative design ability, speed, and technical knowledge.

 

We also publish Pacific Coast Sportfishing magazine and have a full-time art director for that magazine whom you will interface with. We have a fun environment with great people with offices in Newport Beach.

 

Our plans are to take Working Ranch to 6x a year in 2008 at which time this will evolve into a full time position. For now, we are offering $3,000 to $3,800 per issue, depending upon experience. Working Ranch will average around 50 to 60 editorial pages with the rest being mostly full page, camera-ready ads. You can work from your home but you need to have a Mac with the latest versions of Quark, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
