Child Care Worker

 

Domestic Violence is the number one reason women miss work or visit an emergency room.  Chrysalis is trying to change those statistics and make our community a safer place through our shelter program for women and children. 

 

Would you like to be a part of our effort to make our community a safer place?  Chrysalis is currently searching for part-time childcare workers who are mature, dependable, and conscientious for our shelter located in Scottsdale.  Childcare is critical so mom can attend group and individual counseling sessions, go to work, or just get away for some much needed rest and quiet.

 

The ideal candidate is at least 21 years of age, has a high school or equivalent education, has experience in supervising children, both individually or in large group settings, the ability to communicate well verbally and in writing, and the ability to work in a high pressure, limited resource environment.

 

We have several positions available at the Scottsdale shelter, Monday--Friday, 10 AM to 4 PM and Monday --Thursday, 6 PM to 9 PM and at the Phoenix shelter, Sunday, 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM and Monday--Thursday, 5 PM to 9 PM.  You can make a difference in our community.

 

CHRYSALIS POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

Position Title:  Part-Time Childcare Worker

 

Qualifications:Experience and/or knowledge of domestic violence and issues that relate to children and families from higher risk populations.Ability to perform crisis intervention with children and adultsAbility to observe and monitor children’s behaviorAbility to develop and maintain positive relationships with children and their familiesExperience with supervising children, both individually and in a large group settingKnowledge of children’s developmental stages and age appropriate behaviorAbility to communicate well verbally and in writingAbility to utilize effective organizational skillsAbility to work variable hours, both during the day and eveningMinimum grade 12 or equivalent education Minimum 21 years of age

Responsibilities:Report to Shelter DirectorProvide supervision of shelter residents children as requested, either individually or in a group settingRead and update staff log at the beginning and during each shiftAssist shelter residents, as needed, with their children’s bedtime preparationProvide group supervision of shelter residents children while parents are in group or individual counseling sessions.Provide supervision of children, as needed, when shelter residents are attending appointments or job interviews.Document all pertinent clinical information or observations in the child’s case file.Participate as a member of a clinical team in providing services to children and their families Work closely with the Child Therapist and other staff and report and document any concerns regarding the children’s behavior immediately to the Child Therapist or other staff on duty.Demonstrate respect and appreciation to all volunteers, donors, and other community members and organizations.Follow policy regarding obtaining shift coverage when taking time offFollow and maintain all ethical and professional guidelines as set forth in the Chrysalis Policy and Procedure ManualMaintain current CPR, First Aid Certification, and TB testingPerform additional tasks as requested by management
