QC Manager

Plans, coordinates and directs quality control program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with well established standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
TYPICAL JOB DUTIES
1. Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise employees in the QC area and may directly supervise other personnel. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
2. Active team member of international cultures quality management team for globalization of methods, processes and specifications.
3. Active team member of Corporate QA, North American Quality Team; Maintain quality objectives compliant with corporate policies and goals.
4. Manages testing criteria and procedures. Directs workers engaged in testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products. Provides testing activity for product throughout production cycle.
5. Drives implementation and maintenance of plant ISO systems, FAML-QS, and FPA.
6. Manages overall Q programs and data analysis systems with other company locations.
7. Analyzes statistical data from product test results and develops plans to reduce product variability and insure that quality levels are maintained.
8. Designs and implements quality control training programs to key personnel in conjunction with managers.
9. Has key role in developing programs for GMP and HAACP requirements. Provides auditing function for the same. Interprets quality control philosophy to key personnel in organization.
10. Coordinates objectives with production processes in cooperation with plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
11. Establish program to evaluate precision and accuracy of testing, measurement and analytical facilities.
12. Applies total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes within each department.
13. Provides excellent level of customer service to both internal and external customers., uses root cause analysis and corrective action to resolve complaints.
14. Performs all other duties as assigned. Reports to work on time and works overtime as required and if required to travel for business: maintains a valid driver's license and good personal credit, making them eligible for a credit card.
15. Travel is required 10% of the time annually, primarily consisting of international travel.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
B.S. or M.S. in molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, food science, animal science or related fields. Seven to ten years of related experience or additional years of education and experience may be substituted for each other, as determined by Human Resources. Preferred an ability to participate in a project team-driven environment. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications needed, with SAP and LIMS experience desirable. Ability to read, write and speak English is a requirement of this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employee is regularly required to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Requires the ability to read and follow technical procedures and to write reports. Prefer ability to operate a variety of lab equipment and instruments, and/or a variety of office equipment, including computers plus experience with database and spreadsheet application. Employee will be required to blend formulas and perform tests using a variety of laboratory equipment.
