Director, Harbor Light

Position Summary

Responsible for providing leadership and supervision of programs operating at The Harbor Light Center, Safe Harbor and Harmony Hall.

 

Essential FunctionsProvide overall management and supervision for a very comprehensive program that is consistent with the goals and objectives of The Salvation Army and specific purposes of The Harbor Light Center.Responsible for managing contracts and compliance for all funding sources and for partnering with internal and external agencies to seek additional funding sources as necessary.Responsible for managing a highly dynamic Human Resources model (including selection, placement, compensation training, performance management and termination) for the Center to meet the business strategy for the department and overall goals of the Division.Representing The Salvation Army and Harbor Light in the community including participation in local coalitions and all governmental agencies relative to homelessness and Proposition 36.Work closely with Evangelical Coordinator and The Lighthouse Corps, in ensuring that the spiritual needs as well as the programmatic needs of the residents are also being met.Further strengthen the partnership alliance with local civic leaders and other community stakeholders.Work with Advisory Council towards continued program, facility, and funding development.Other relative duties as assigned.

 

Working ConditionsRequires sitting for extended periods of time.May be required to stand for 45-120 minutes at any period of time.May be required to lift up to 15 lbs.May require pulling, pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping, crouching while performing duties.Requires good motor coordination simultaneously with eyes, hands, and feet.Environmental temperatures vary between 68-85 degrees. 

 

Minimum Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge & AbilitiesMSW/PhD. in Social Work in a non-profit environment.2-3 years supervisory of upper management staff.At least 5 years program management experience, including administration, budgeting, program and performance management.Good driving record.Familiar with social service programs involving homelessness and substance recovery.Demonstrated competency in communication oral and written, horizontal and vertical.Professional level of confidentiality in handling complex business matters.Knowledge of government and contract compliance regulations related to social service programs.Demonstrated ability to handle and manage multiple priorities.
