Development Officer

As a member of the Resource Development Team, this position will build fundraising capacity through assessment and planning, cultivation, solicitation, recognition and stewardship. Additionally, this position will participate, plan and/or support special events and represent United Way in the Greater Los Angeles and Antelope Valley community.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:Manage and implement fundraising activities, primarily within Los Angeles CountyManage assigned accounts and campaigns to grow client and donor baseResearch existing accounts to assess campaign potential, prepare forecast and reports.Strengthen client relationships and perception of United Way to increase fundraising revenueProvide campaign trainings and/or presentations to donorsPlan and coordinate “Thank You” eventsDocument activity within computer database and filing systems, using protocols established by pledge processing.Provide United Way information to the publicAddress issues that impact achieving the fundraising goals and objectivesHandle projects with judgment and initiative under minimum directionDevelop and cultivate new business prospects

 

Minimum Requirements:

BA/BS, 3-5 years of work experience is required to qualify for this position. Must be computer literate (MS Word, Excel, email and data base; specific training in United Way fundraising data base will be provided). Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to work independently as well as within a team. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
