Position Summary :

Objective

The Mining Engineer’s primary responsibility is optimize the quarry operation by using modern methods of analysis, engineering, planning, scheduling, and leadership.

Nature and Scope

Produce, manage, and communicate the long term, short term, and daily mine plans. Work with CTS to establish mine plans that meet both the long and short term plant needs.

Collect and analyze quarry productivity data and use this data to suggest and implement productivity improvements in all aspects of the quarry operation.

Manage, from concept to completion, quarry improvement projects

Work closely with the blasting contractor and quarry personnel to optimize all aspects of drilling and blasting (safety, environment, and productivity).

Implement cutting edge mining methods such as the use of GPS, mine planning and scheduling software, continuous equipment data collection systems, automation, etc. aimed at a safe, low cost, high efficiency quarry operation.

Work closely with quality control to provide the best quality raw feed from the quarry while respecting good mining practices.

Work with quarry personnel to implement Lafarge Quarry Best Practices

Work with quarry hourly personnel to accomplish optimization goals

Takes an active role in control of the costs in the Quarry Department so that budgetary constraints are met.

Relief supervision when needed. Other responsibilities when assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS 

Educational Background :

BS in Mining, Geological Engineering or Geology is preferred, a BS in engineering or other technical field with mining or mineral processing experience accepted.

Experience :

At least two years of experience in modern day mining practices or operations, including planning, reserve estimation, blast analysis, GPS Technology, and mobile equipment optimization is required.
