We are publishers of books, magazines, and web sites related to promoting our vacation provider clients in the adventure travel field. Our award winning website, GordonsGuide.com has been awarded "Best of the Web" by Forbes seven years in a row (2000 - 2006), and features over 65 categories of adventure travel such as ATV Tours, Dude Ranches, Houseboat Rentals, Whitewater Rafting, as well as active vacations like Resorts, Spas, and Retreats.
Position Summary:
Seeking a highly motivated Web Architect to play a key role in maintaining site structure of GordonsGuide.com and related web properties in a MS Windows environment. This role requires a logical, creative, pro-active, problem solver that can produce site content that satisfies end user expectation for utility and ease of use, while supporting associated business goals, as well as produce code that is optimized for major search engines for higher visibility via natural placement.
The Web Architect must be able to perform requirements gathering, information architecture (relational database design, content organization, page structure, navigation & UI design), page optimizations, and hand-coded HTML production. In addition, the Web Architect is responsible for driving qualified traffic to our web sites that convert to travel inquiries and increase our customer base via search engine optimization (SEO), maintaining and managing Pay-Per-Click keyword campaigns, as well as monitoring, maintaining and improving natural search engine placement on major search engines.
Graphic design is not a requirement as we have an in-house department that provides those services. While experience in developing web applications (database driven web sites) is a must, prior experience in web marketing and search engine optimization, although advantageous, is not required as we have working systems in place and in-house experts to train and mentor for this aspect of the position.
Requirements:Expertise in writing (hand-coding) W3C compliant HTML, CSS and proficiency with JavaScript.Experience writing dynamic web sites using ColdFusion or similar technologies a plus.Experience with SQL and relational database design. MS SQL Server a plus.Experience with web tracking software, WebTrends, a plus.Experience with search engine keyword placement reporting software, WebPosition Gold, a plus.Experience with search engine optimizing (SEO) a plus.A minimum of a bachelors degree in Computers is preferred (BS in Computer Science or equivalent).Knowledge of PERL a plus.Strong organizational and record-keeping skiils.Strong analytical and conceptual skills, a meticulous eye for detail, and ability to take responsibility for a project from inception to completion.Must understand and employ a customer-centered approach, have an excellent track record designing consumer UI and web-based applications.Excellent writing, presentation and communication skills for the production of content on our web properties.
