Senior Software Engineer - Perl

As a member of this team, you will:

• Share responsibility and ownership of Shopzilla’s product search engine and indexing systems
• Design and develop state-of-the-art solutions to scale our massive product index of 50+ million products
• Manage critical data flows feeding directly into the core search engine and external tools
• Mentor team members in system design and development
• Work closely with the operations team to diagnose and provide solutions to
issues arising on production services

Your qualifications include:

• 7+ years experience with Perl development on Unix and/or Linux platforms
• Strong Object Oriented Programming skills
• 3+ years experience with SQL and relational databases (Sybase ASE/Oracle a plus)
• Experience designing, building and optimizing large scale distributed systems
• Highly motivated person willing to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or with a small team
• Experience in C/C++ a plus
• Experience with web technologies and best-practices
• Experience with search engines and indexing systems a strong plus
• BS CS or equivalent required, MS CS preferred
