Summary of Position

Alabama Power Company is currently recruiting for Plant Helpers. This is an entry-level position that requires heavy manual labor. Extensive training is offered to provide employees knowledge/skills required for advancement to Apprentice and Journeymen classifications. This position assists in the operation and maintenance of Alabama Power generating plants (Miller is located in
Walker County ; Gaston plant is located near Wilsonville). Plant Helpers work rotating shifts and must be available for overtime and call out, especially during outages. The candidate that we are seeking has experience working in a physically demanding environment, has the ability to work with all types of tools, and is a winner looking to join a company with a winning culture and tradition!

Job Experience and Education

High School diploma with a two year technical degree (Industrial or Technical majors) preferred Two years manual labor, construction, maintenance or electrical experience working on heavy equipment is desired Able to work in confined spaces Able to perform physically demanding activities while working in all types of temperature extremes; job requires candidates to bend, kneel, crawl, stoop and stand for long periods of time Operate all equipment and hand tools as needed Work rotating shifts on a monthly basis (must be available for overtime, call out, weekends and holidays as required)

Pay for PLANT HELPER position is based on an hourly rate with possible overtime pay. Starting pay is $12.94 per hour with the opportunity for two raises a year given expected performance. Per Diem is paid accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement.
