Electrician III: (Full Time/Unaccompanied)



Responsibilities: Overall electrical maintenance and repair in the power plant and switchgear watch standing and operations. Perform mechanical and electrical disassembly and reassembly of electrical equipment from 24 volts DC to 4160 volts AC. Perform overhauls of/on various electrical equipment. Pull wires and install conduit. Select and use proper tools, equipment and materials to complete assigned tasks. Interpret sketches, diagrams and drawings of electrical systems to troubleshoot and correct electrical problems. Use meters and instruments to test electrical parts. Test electrical components and sub-assemblies. Use knowledge of AC/DC theory to troubleshoot systems. Maintain records to reflect work accomplished. Learn additional knowledge and skill of the trade to progress to the next higher level. The switchgear operator is assigned the responsibility of regulating the operation of electrical generating units to meet power requirements by manipulation of remote switches on the control board. The operator performs tasks such as: determine the number of generator units needed in operation by observing load indicators and interpreting system operators’ orders. Notify generating room (floor operator) of pending load changes and/or requirements. Once qualified, may be required to stand floor operator shifts. Synchronizes newly started generating units in operation by adjusting controls. Observes indicating instruments to determine when generator is operating in synchronism and exercising the paralleling switch to connect the generator output to the bus bar receiving electricity from various generators. Disconnects generators from the bus bar to decrease power output or to remove a malfunctioning until from the line up. Equalizes the load among remaining operating generators. Keeps records of switching operations and regular readings of output generators to ensure proper/correct data is recorded. Connects and disconnects feeders distributing power from plant to island loads. Work is performed in areas of high noise and heat. Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs of weight. May be called to respond to emergencies at any time. Perform other duties as required.



Requirements : High school diploma or equivalent, with at least 3-5 years of experience working in a similar diesel engine electric power generating plant. Shall have at least one year as an Electrician II or other such training or experience as to meet or exceed the qualifications for that position. Must have Basic English language capability to use verbal and written forms of communication. Must be able to perform simple mathematical calculations required on the job and interpret maintenance manuals, specifications, and procedures; select and use proper tools equipment and materials and demonstrate initiative in learning the entire scope of work. Must be able to work in harmony and cooperation with others and follow all Lock out/Tag out procedures. Practice of good safety habits is mandatory at all times. Experience with Caterpillar 3600 series engines a plus. (PA016)

(Power Plant, Public Works, Generator Shop, Electrical Shop)



Lead Electrician, Kwaj Ops Electric Shop (Full Time/ Unaccompanied)

 

Responsibilities: Under minimal supervision, perform work of considerable difficulty in leading and supervising subordinates with varying degrees of skill in corrective and preventive maintenance on low voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, power panels, motor generator sets, power distribution systems, uninterrupted power supplies, transformers and general lighting systems. Install conduit and wiring, and modifies facilities power distribution systems as necessary, utilize blueprints, technical manuals, manufacturers’ files and some record keeping. Must possess ability to understand grounding, control, and alarm circuitry and power relationships. Understand and follow the National Electric Code. Specific Responsibilities include: adherence to company safety policies, procedures, and programs. Responsible for work accomplishments in accordance with published schedules. Determines parts, supplies, and material requirements for job accomplishment. Receives direction from Electrical Supervisor; conducts on the job training of personnel as required, may provide guidance to less experienced personnel. Frequent internal work center and limited external contacts, coordinates work within the work center or shop. Inputs O&M data. Work is performed both in a work center/shop setting and outside on various sites. Perform other duties as required.

 

Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent with minimum of TEN (10) years electrical Journeyman experience with three (3) years supervisory experience to include planning, organizing, reporting and scheduling. Experience should include a well rounded background and vast knowledge of electrical maintenance/repair techniques to include general knowledge of the National Electric Code and OSHA safety standards. Considerable knowledge at the Journeyman level in one or more trades and reasonable facility in several other trades. Must write clearly and informatively and present numerical data effectively with ability to read and interpret written information and blueprints. Must possess ability to use computers and associated company and MS Software packages. Good interpersonal skills a must. Prefer completion of an apprentice training program and/or Master licensure.
