Director of Labor Relations
EMCOR Facilities Services, a division of EMCOR Group has an immediate need for a Director of Labor Relations in Phoenix! This position will be responsible for the tactical and strategic planning, execution, delivery of labor solutions across the business unit, acting as the subject expert on labor for existing business initiatives, mergers, acquisitions and new business opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Implement appropriate plans, collective bargaining strategy and programs to meet and/or exceed the financial objectives across the business unit.
* Responsible for overall labor application to exceed Customer expectations and contractual commitments.
* Sets the strategic labor direction and implementation of these initiatives.
* Establishs goals and performance criteria and measurement processes to proactively manage the labor process.
* Interprets collective bargaining agreements, formulates and changes labor relations policy, and represents management throughtout the labor process.
* Shall act as a chief spokeperson during bargaining sessions, as well as during conflict resolution.
* Shall negotiate contracts, interprets contracts, grievance resolution, grievance preventation, arbitration preparation and delivery, expert advice and counsel to Management Team.
* Progress to partner with union leadership to continue positive relationship at existing union sites, continuing positive atmosphere.
* Implement pro employee programs, union free programs to maintain union free sites where critical.
* Represent the organization from a labor perspective for alliances and joint venture initiatives.
* Participate in solution development for new business opportunities by providing expert counsel on labor agreements and organizational flexibility in solution creation.
* Develop and maintain a system wide labor strategy.
* Drive continuous improvement and innovation throughout responsibility.
* Create and maintain work environment that gives team members and teams responsibility/authority to achieve goals.
Candidate must have Bachelor's degree (B.A) with some emphasis in Labor Relations or Human Resources, Psychology, Sociology required; Masters degree or JD preferred.
Ten years related experience dealing with labor relations and as a primary in a medium to large organizations on a national platform; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to travel 30 – 70% of the time and have strong finance and analytical abilities, strategic thought and ability to work variable hours.
Experience with facilities, services, operations or maintenance is preferred. Previous interaction with Operating Engineers and other relevant trades councils preferred. Must have multi-site/account experience or national scope experience.
