Materials Tech I

Overview : The primary duties of this position are to coordinate the dispatch, logging, prioritizing, issuing and distribution of all requests for patient care equipment, medical/surgical supplies, medical gases, inventory change requests that are recieved in Materials Management. Answer phones and receives requests via fax machine or computer.

Qualifications :

Prefer One (1) year of hospital material management experience including knowledge of medical/surgical supplies and equipment transport practices. Verbal communication, writing and reading English, must be able to interpret verbal and written information and instructions, ability to express oneself clearly to provide information to others. Basic word processing, spreadsheet and/or database software skills. Effective organizational, communication, and human relation skills are necessary as the incumbent will be coordinating several projects simultaneoulsy and working closely with department managers and all levels of staff. Conduct self with a high degree of professionalism and exhibit a positive attitude at all times. Using proper body mechanics while carrying, walking, bending, stooping and reaching and/or lifting up to 50 pounds and pushing up to 400 pounds on wheels without assistance. Ability to stand and walk pushing a cart for extended periods of time. Requries organizational skills and the ability to function with minimal direction on an independent basis is also important.
