Youth Development Specialist (Mid/Nights Avail)
This is a part-time position on Night Shift, Thursday-Saturday 9pm-7am.
HomeBase Youth Services is an Arizona-based non-profit agency founded in 1991 to address the growing needs of at-risk and homeless youth 21 years and younger in Arizona. Programs include: Early Intervention/Prevention, Street Outreach, Medical Outreach, Transitional Living, Independent Living, Employment and Life/Skills and a Learning Center for street kids to earn their GEDs.

Principal FunctionsMaintain respectful, supportive, and encouraging environment in all interactions with youth.Engage youth in program activities and follow program and life skills group facilitation schedules.Assist youth in meeting basic needs and/or responsibilities in a respectful, encouraging manner.Model appropriate communication skills and provide redirection techniques to address inappropriate behaviors that maintain the dignity of and respect for youth participating in program.Ensure all documentation is complete and accurate, submitted in a timely manner and adheres to agency, contractual, licensure, and accreditation requirements.Maintain professional interactions with colleagues, volunteers, donors, tours, and maintain professional phone etiquette.Ensure the safety of staff and youth at the facility.Ensure that all medications are taken as required each shift through reminders and proper documentation in medication log.Maintain safe, clean, and organized appearance of the environment.
QualificationsOne (1) year of experience in related social service field plus,High School Diploma/GED or five (5) years of equivalent experience, Bachelor’s degree preferred.Must be at least 21 years of age.The ability to embrace the HBYS mission – teaching at risk and homeless youth how to live healthy and independent lives and perform the principal functions in accordance with the HBYS cornerstone values of Accountability, Integrity, Quality and Respect.The ability to support the HBYS philosophical mandates.The ability to maintain confidentiality compliant to Federal mandate.
