Children’s Bureau currently seeks qualified Family Support Counselors II for our Lancaster, CA office.  With minimal supervision and direction, the Family Support Counselor II is responsible for initiating and maintaining good rapport and a trusting relationship with client families and community partners while moving families through the continuum of services to provide the best outcomes for healthy mother, father and children. This includes in-home counseling, in-home training of parenting and home-life skills, case management and linkage to needed services in the community.

 

Experience and Requirements:

· Master’s Degree in related field required plus two years experience working in the field of maternal/child health

· One year home visitation experience preferred working with culturally diverse communities and families with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate.

· Meet basic health requirements and physical job standards

· Bi-lingual English/Spanish required

 

Skills and Abilities:

· Knowledge and experience of maternal/child health, early childhood development and parent-child relationships

· Ability to relate to families from a family focused and strength-based paradigm 

  providing basic and supportive skills

· Ability to assess risk and respond accordingly using best practice within the law and adhering to the policies and procedure Children’s Bureau

· Ability to relate to individuals who may not share basic value systems and behavior norms, using strong interpersonal skills in a culturally sensitive, tolerant and non-judgmental manner.

· Ability to sustain participation in long-term, ongoing projects, tracking multiple tasks at one time to completion

 

Required Licensure and/or Certifications:

· Current and maintained CA driver’s license

· Current/maintained auto insurance

· Clear Live-Scan/DOJ report

· Current and maintained CPR & First Aid
