OR RN - Part-time and full-time positions in 6 suite Operating Room.

*Prior Surgery or Critical Care experience preferred.*

Responsibilities :

The OR RN functions as a patient advocate, exhibiting compassion for patients. The OR RN collects patient health data, assesses health problems and needs, develops and implements nursing care plans; maintains medical records; reports abnormal lab values, if applicable. Confirms informed consent granted for planned procedure and answers patient questions regarding care. Assists patients in formulating decisions affecting patient care, as appropriate.

The OR RN collaborates with the health care team - physician, ORT, others RN's and anesthesiologists, applying Patient Safety First principles to peri-operative care; Completes peri-operative teaching.

Specifically, in the operating room, the OR RN uses, sterilizes, maintains, reprocesses instruments and supplies; carries out some of the following; maintain operative records; serves as Circulating RN or Scrubbing RN, with working knowledge of procedure performed, necessary instrumentation and supplies, and scrubbing and maintaining sterile technique.

Post-Op - assesses patient and assists in safe transport of patient to Post Anesthesia Care Unit, reports patient's pre/inter/post operative condition to PACU RN.

Qualifications :

Previous nursing experience required and ability to obtain Alaska RN license.
