Job title:   Purchasing/Inventory Control Coordinator

 

Reports to:  Pharmacy Operations Manager

 

Full Time – Nonexempt Position (40 Hours Per Week)

 

Basic Function:  To ensure that the pharmacy has available sufficient quantities of drugs and supplies by maintaining “par levels” of inventory with wholesalers and vendors. 

 

Major Responsibilities:
Coordinates with Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Prepackers, Chief and General Manager in pharmacy inventory control (does counts, places orders, handles overstocks, credits and expires) to minimize costs of inventory maintenance and inventory turns.
Coordinates with General Manager and pharmacists in seeking opportunities for manufacturer rebates that would reduce inventory costs.
Works with supplier Accounts Payable representatives in reviewing and auditing invoices and packing slips for errors, ensuring that drugs are properly labeled for correct inventory cost control.
Monitors purchasing practices with formulary guidelines and updates AS400 NDC’s to help General Manager maintain compliance and control costs. 
Coordinates with Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and General Manager in monthly and/or quarterly physician inventory.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Learning Experience

Required:  High school diploma or equivalent experience

Work Experience

Required:  Previous inventory experience

Desired:  Experience in pharmacy and/or healthcare industry

Skills/Knowledge
