Supervisor Nutrition Services Production

Overview : This position performs daily management duties and is responsible for providing all aspects of leadership to the department. In the absence of the Director, this position may share the Director responsibilities with the Operations Supervisor. This is an exempt position.

Responsibilities :

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provides management and leadership for all sections of the department. Acts as direct supervisor to the Assistant Chef, Cooks, Office Coordinators, Distribution Clerk, and Sanitation staff.

Assures the department achieves high scores from regulatory agencies by consistent monitoring of department activities and thorough knowledge of regulatory standards, including State of Alaska Food Code, JCAHO standards and OSHA requirements.

Assures the highest quality product is served in a timely manner to all patients, residents, and caf customers, based on customer feedback and survey scores.

Interviews, provides department orientation and training for new hires. Completes evaluations, disciplinary actions, and terminations as needed for all employees in the department.

Serves as a creative force in development of food choices for special catering events, preparing food and assisting in set-up and breakdown.

Assumes Purchasing Agent duties absence of Purchasing Agent. When covering Purchasing Agent duties, assures grocery and supply budget compliance through prudent spending.

Presents in-services at department meetings on a rotating schedule with Operation Supervisor and Director.

Qualifications :

2 years work experience in Food Service Supervision required; American Culinary Federation Certified Cook, or higher certification, preferred. Knowledge of therapeutic diets is preferred.
