Director of Orthopedic Nursing

The Director of Orthopedic Nursing is responsible for 55 FTEs with the assistance of 3 direct reports.  Responsibilities include the oversight of a 42-bed orthopedic unit.  Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s in Nursing and either have or be pursuing a Master’s degree.  Ideal candidates will be strong nursing leaders with excellent communication skills, be clinically competent with a proactive management style.

 

The community of 58,000 is located in the southeastern corner of Alabama and is known for its southern hospitality and as a place where the welcome mat is always out.  Entertainment includes museums featuring flying machines and electric currents, artistic reviews, giant murals depicting the history of the city's earliest days and most infamous moments, gardens, dinner theaters, theme parks with the tallest water slides, the fastest race tracks, and celebrations of the seasons.  The average year-round temperature is around 73 degrees, with an average of 64 degrees in the winter.

 

The hospital is a 400-bed acute care facility that serves as the primary referral center for the Wiregrass region of the state.  In addition to providing comprehensive medical, surgical, and emergency care, the hospital operates freestanding facilities for surgery and outpatient physical rehabilitation. The medical center’s position of strength has been developed through state-of-the-art facilities, focused outpatient and home health care services, and a well-developed patient referral network.
