Dental Hygienist

Job Purpose:

Reduces impact of environmental hazards by collecting and analyzing environmental samples; training staff to protect themselves; developing policies and procedures.



Duties:

* Identifies environmental hazards by collecting, measuring, and analyzing samples of environmental conditions, such as, air, water, dust, vapors, fumes, gases, mists, heat, cold, noise, and radiation.



* Assesses adequacy of personal protection by reviewing and recommending control measures.



* Protects staff by conducting training in health, safety, environmental concerns, accident prevention, and use of personal protective equipment; monitoring occupational health surveillance programs.



* Provides safety information by documenting environmental conditions; analyzing and summarizing hygiene data and trends; recommending improvements.



* Complies with legal regulations by enforcing standards and procedures.



* Guides staff actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines.



* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.



* Enhances safety and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
