Data Analyst I

 The Data Analyst I analyzes, designs, and develops technical solutions for low risk, low complexity projects on the mainframe and/or Unix platform to meet the needs of the Product, Actuarialand Sales departments.  Prepare regularly scheduled tasks such as reports, Data Marts, etc.  Perform data processing activities under direction to correct, maintain, enhance, and implement effective and efficient programs to meet customer business requirements.  Investigate and resolve production problems arising from programming, system or design errors, under direction.  Provide timely and accurate reports of the current and projected status of all assigned tasks.



·  Requires 1 to 2 years experience in analysis, design, and programming within a large-scale environment, and actuarial or analytical experience using healthcare or medical data.

·  Requires excellent oral, written, and presentation skills to effectively communicate technical information to all levels of internal and external personnel.

·  Requires the ability to work within tight time constraints on low risk and complexity projects.

·  Requires the ability to collect, organize and process data and information from multiple sources, verify its accuracy, and effectively develop alternatives and logical relationships.

·  Requires the ability to plan daily work activities to effectively utilize available design, programming, and testing methods to maintain a high level of personal productivity.

·  Requires the ability to understand a customer’s business environment and to provide appropriate solutions.

Knowledge of health insurance processes (actuarial, financial, membership, reporting, claims, etc.) is preferred.

 

 

·    Requires a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics or equivalent experience.

·  Requires programming ability in at least one computer programming languages/tools (SAS, FOCUS, PL/SQL, VB, Perl, etc.).Requires working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Access.Cognos is a plus but not required.
