Clinical Mgr

Overview : This position will be working at Banner Baywood Heart in Telemetry on Night shift

Responsibilities :

Provides and/or facilitates patient centered nursing care and patient flow for defined patient population and serves as a resource to employees for clinical and managerial support. Assumes responsibility for direct patient care when necessary. Promotes interdisciplinary patient care planning and patient education which considers the unique cultural, psychosocial, and age associated needs of patients. Collaborates with Case Management for care management. Assess appropriateness of level of care and communicates utilization issues to Case Manager or Senior Management as necessary.
2. Demonstrates effective communication skills, problem solving, critical thinking and conflict resolution in the management of the assigned department, keeping the appropriate people informed. Works as a supportive team member with unit staff as well as groups outside the patient care area. Demonstrates leadership qualities in support of department needs and acts on as clinical resource. Collaborates with physicians to insure smooth and efficient patient care management.
3. Serves as a resource person to patients, families, physicians and staff in facilitating medical and nursing care by facilitating patient flow and utilization of appropriate resources. Assists in interpreting department/hospital/system policies in the clinical setting. Includes responsibility for providing safe and cost effective care and attention to patient satisfaction and customer service per BHS Service Excellence standards.
4. Participates in:
a. Staff development, orientation, education and evaluation of clinical competencies. Mentors staff to increase clinical and critical thinking and problem solving skills.
b. Performance review - assists with completion of employee performance assessments that are objective, constructive and timely.
c. Counseling and corrective action.
d. Assisting with staff selection - participates in interviews for prospective staff members.
5. Supports change and participates in the development, interpretation, implementation and evaluation of the process improvement and quality management activities of the department. Works with staff to make necessary changes within the environment
6. Manages patient care activities within the budgetary and productivity guidelines of the department. Monitors staff usage and ensures staffing meets patient needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
Follows safety standards in all aspects of performance of the above functions, reports/removes unsafe equipment and attends safety education sessions.

Qualifications :

A current or temporary Arizona or other compact state RN licensure (or the ability to obtain one) is required. Bachelor's Degree in healthcare is preferred or equivalent related experience. Demonstrated leadership ability and at least three years of clinical experience relevant to the Cardiac patient population and scope of care of Telemetry Services is required. The ability to build and maintain effective communication and working relationships with staff, physicians, patients and their families is required.
