Staff Optometrist

The Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary is a specialty hospital providing outstanding patient care for disorders of the eye, ear, nose, throat, head and neck. MEEI is also an international leader in Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology research and a teaching partner of Harvard Medical School. As the Staff Optometrist, you will provide Optometry support within a research environment for studies on Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, and other ophthalmologic conditions. Utilizing your optometric skills, you will examine patients with retinal and other eye diseases including those who may be eligible for or be enrolled in experimental therapy protocols. As the Staff Optometrist, you will also perform sponsor-specified study protocols completing annual certification programs as necessary to ensure data quality; and attend investigator/coordinator meetings when new studies are initiated to obtain training/certification. This is an exciting opportunity to work with several Principal Investigators on a variety of eye research projects ascertaining outcomes for clinical trials and other clinical research studies.

Doctor of Optometry degree with Massachusetts license in Optometry or certified ophthalmic technician with experience in administering visual acuity protocols. Minimum of two years experience in a clinical setting required. Experience in a research setting with prior vision examiner certification is desirable.
