Supporting the health care needs within the criminal justice system of Bexar County with dignity and compassion.

 

The Mission of Detention Health Care Services is to provide basic health care equivalent to community standards, to include health education, mental health care and preventative care to detained persons who are in the Bexar County Adult Detention Center, the BCADC Annex, the Bexar County Juvenile Detention Center and the Cyndi Taylor Krier Juvenile Correctional Treatment Center.

 

Detention Health Care Services has current openings for full-time Physician Assistants.  This position provides primary health care and performs selective medical services under the direction of clinic physicians.The Physician Assistant is also responsible for diagnostic and therapeutic management of patients by completing medical histories, conducting physicals, establishing diagnosis through tests, and formulating treatment plans, and provides follow-up and health maintenance care of patients in accordance with protocols approved by a physician.

 

Bachelors degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program is required. Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants is required.  Must be currently licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of Texas.
