Physician Assistant
Overview : The Physician Assistant (PA) position is responsible for providing quality health care services. The position's emphasis is on providing patient assessments through patient exams, patient medical history, interpretation of required diagnostic procedures, and implementing continued treatment of the patient. This position requires working closely with physicians, nurses, clinic staff and other hospital staff. The PA shall meet or exceed current recognized national, state and facility standards
Responsibilities :
1. Patient Care:
The primary functions of the PA will be as follows:
* To perform procedures, including but not limited to: history taking, physical examination, ordering diagnostic testing, recording progress notes, and writing orders for patient care
* Complete documentation in patient records
* Maintains all patient health records according to applicable policies, standards and regulations, reviews records with supervising physicians periodically
* Demonstrates support of administration and the mission of Banner Health through meeting the company's service excellence standard
* Assures that all procedures and patient care provided is reviewed and charts co-signed by the Physician
* Participate in local disaster planning and infection control
* Provide instructional information to patients, families and staff
2. A broad representation of skills is expected in order to share the responsibilities for care, and teaching patient care. Representative skills include acute and minor injury care and the coordination of that care with other members of the health care team. Physical exam skills include the full range of capabilities needed for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients within the scope of practice.
3. The PA is expected to have the communication and personal skills to communicate effectively with physicians and staff. This is done through direct observation of care activities, formal and informal precepting, chart reviews, and specific procedural training.
Qualifications :
Posses a PA degree from a program accredited by the Accreditation Review committee-Physician Assistant. A minimum of two years experience as a PA preferred. Possess and maintain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Possess National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification. Be board certified by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants. PA's providing services must be approved by the credentials committee and be granted hospital privileges.
