Meaningful Work Experience

Some employees have given their entire careers and lives to serve a people who suffer from dire socioeconomic conditions and who still fish and hunt for subsistence. These native Alaskan peoples embrace and encourage family values and love their community. The Native Alaskan people believe that their elders are to be respected and valued. Some other employees will give these native people a portion of their career, benefiting from the rich cultural experience and receiving satisfaction from giving to an underserved people. Those that come to a place called Bethel, Alaska will also serve over 58 villages that span a territory the size of Oregon. Many of these villages still do not have running water. These people truly appreciate the medical assistance provided to them, giving those that serve respect and honor.
Fair Compensation
Compensation for your profession is market competitive: (pay grades are currently being revised with new a new hourly rate structure soon to be in place.) Benefits are excellent with extremely low co-pays for full health insurance. A single person pays just $10 bi-weekly, a family $30 bi-weekly. The retirement plan is also very good with a matching program in addition to a generous amount put in your retirement for each and every employee. We have a signing and retention bonus over the course of three years of $30,000. A very competitive relocation package offered.
Eligibility for Loan Repayment up to $20,000.00 per Year
In order to help assist these underserved people, the Indian Health Services (IHS) has loan repayment programs available. Loan repayment is not guaranteed with offer of employment, as all employees must apply directly through Indian Health Services. Since this is not absolutely guaranteed, we ask that you do not make this program your sole reason to come work in Bethel. Instead, look at it as a potential added bonus for serving your underserved fellow man.

The Opportunity
Position Summary:
Work as an integrated member of the Village Operations Directors team, sharing administrative responsibility and authority for Village Operations programs. Responsible for the operations of the Basic Training, Field Supervision, CHA/P Credentialing, EPSDT, and Immunization components of Village Operations and ensures its coordination with other components.

Scope of Authority
The Director of CHAP/Education is responsible and accountable for the operations of the Basic Training, Field Supervision, EPSDT, and Immunization programs. The Director of CHAP/Education supervises the daily operations of these programs.

Department/Program Development
The Director of CHAP/Education is responsible for the systematic development, alignment and deployment of goals, objectives, initiatives and action plans for department and programs. The Director is responsible for the deployment of Napartet principles. The Director is also responsible for ensuring that the goals, objectives, initiative and action plans are aligned with the corporate strategic plan, and aligned with other department and programs within the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation.

Finance
The Director of CHAP/Education is responsible for the completion and maintenance of annual operating and capital budgets for the Basic Training, Field Supervision, EPSDT, and Immunization programs, including projecting volume, revenue and expenses.


Compliance
The Director of CHAP/Education is responsible and accountable for deployment and compliance with corporate policies and procedures, applicable local, state and federal regulations, grant/funding conditions and accrediting bodies, including the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO).

Performance Improvement
Ensures departments and programs under supervision actively participate in Performance Improvement activities as described in Corporate Performance Improvement Plan including,
• Planning, including design of processes, selection of measures, and deployment of requirements,
• Execution of plans,
• Assessment of progress and capturing of new knowledge,
• Revision of plans based on assessment findings, learning, new inputs and new requirements.

Human Resource Management
The Director of CHAP/Education is responsible for ensuring that employees under his/her supervision are competent to complete job duties by development of systematic selection requirements, and systematic evaluation of employee performance and competence, including customer contact requirements, customer satisfaction and ability to work with others.

The Director of CHAP/Education is responsible for systematic development and deployment of outcome measures, process measure and financial measures.

May represents Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation in regional and statewide committees and task forces.

Director of CHAP/Education is a voting member of the Village Operations Directors Team and the CHAP Directors Team.REQUIREMENTSNurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant; current licensure in the state of Alaska.

Five years clinical experience to include supervisory experience, budget management, policy development and implementation, and familiarity with health care regulations including JCAHO, CHAP, and HIPAA Standards. Two years in education setting, preferably CHAP. Experience working in rural, multi-cultural setting.

Licensed Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant.
