Medical Director
U.S. HealthWorks, is currently seeking a Medical Director for the Del Amo facility.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide medical treatment of work-related illnesses and injuries.
• Provide medical treatment for Urgent Care related illnesses and injuries
• Chart all patient transactions in accordance with company policies and procedures. Including, but not limited to office visits, phone contact with patients, employers, carriers and Utilization Reviewers.
• Supervise Physicians Assistants or Nurse Practitioner’s to assure compliance of all applicable regulations. Instruct and direct the physician’s assistant in the assistant’s duties, oversee and check the assistant’s work and provide general direction to the assistant. Including, but not limited to signing charts for all First Injuries, Discharges and visits where medication is dispensed, educating and training physician assistants and nurse practitioners in procedures or policy changes.
• Communicate and work with medical staff to ensure coordinated efforts for the provision of high quality medical treatment and client services.
• Educate and train staff in new procedures, use of equipment, proper charting techniques or other issues involving the center.
• May be required to visit customers or clients as needed for part of our center customer services & sales plan.
• Assist management in identifying, analyzing and resolving work problems.
• Work with Center Manager with Performance evaluations of staff and any disciplinary and/or recognition issues for staff.
• Be aware of proper documentation for disciplinary actions for Provider staff and performing same.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of existing clinical methods and procedures and suggest improvements.
• Maintain professional communications by attending all required meetings, conference calls and responding to email, telephone or written communication in a timely manner.
• Participate in the orientation of clinical staff physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and residents.
• Be responsible for notifying other providers in the center of memos from Management; Identify ways to implement any changes in his/her specific center. Monitor for adherence to changes.
• Work closely with the Center Manager, Administrative Assistant for Provider Support and Regional Medical Director to ensure proper staffing. It may be necessary to respond to coverage issues by working additional hours if there is not alternative coverage.
• Supervise the working hours, punctuality and attendance of the medical staff. Documentation of any counseling sessions with other providers must be sent to the Regional Medical Director.
• Assist clinical staff in understanding and complying with policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance by medical staff with company policies regarding ethical, legal and professional issues.
• Ensure compliance by medical and clinical staff with applicable regulations and with corporate policies and procedures.
• Maintain quality assurance for all medical issues and assist in the solution of any medical problems.
• Recruit physicians and physician assistants and nurse practitioners as necessary.
• Direct, review and evaluate performance of physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants following protocols on documentation of issues and communicating issues / resolution / action to Regional Medical Director. Assist Administrator in performance evaluations of clinical staff which could include communicating staff suggestions and/or complaints to Administrator; contributing solutions to intra- and inter-departmental problems; serving as a liaison between the administrator and the staff; mediating professional disputes and problems.
• Support efforts of administrative and marketing personnel to secure new and maintain existing business as required. Assist with center growth plans. Identify new accounts and communicate information to the Center Manager and/or Account Manager. Be certain that ALL provider staff does the same.
• Communicate regularly w/ clients to resolve client grievances regarding medical issues.
• Understand all products/services USHW. Identify same that a client may benefit from having and be able to present initial information and/or give lead to the account manager for same.
• Assist Administrator in scheduling physicians' shifts and time off so that center is always appropriately staffed.
• Assist Administrator in protecting center assets and property against loss or waste through negligence or dishonesty.
• Have a working knowledge of both medication and supply formularies. Have knowledge of basic needs of the center; be able to communicate additions or deletions (if indicated) to the Regional Medical Director.
• Have a good understanding of the needs of the TRIAD and participate in monthly TRIAD meetings at the center.
• Have a working knowledge of the basic financial reports available and how they describe how the center is performing
• Be an active participant in the business and operations of the Center
• Provide utilization review of medical charts, especially those corresponding to patients seen by part-time staff.
• Assist Administrator in certain administrative functions (i.e. budget planning.)
• Assist Administrator in implementing special medical projects and services, such as on-site services.
• Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
• Serve as liaison to associations in the community and to any other organization that might affect business at the center.
• Conduct onsite medical care as needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Knowledge of medical practice related to occupational health, group health as required.
• Knowledge of medical policies, regulations and procedures.
• Skill in developing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.
• Skill in developing and maintaining medical quality assurance and quality control standards.
• Ability to react calmly, objectively and effectively in emergency situations.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
EDUCATION
• Degree of Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.)
CERTIFICATE / LICENSURE
• Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of (center’s state).
• Current certificate to supervise X-ray technicians, if required.
• Current certificate to supervise Physician Assistants, if required.
• Current DEA license.
• Board certification or qualified preferred.
EXPERIENCE
• Previous experience in Occupational, Emergency, Internal Medicine or General Practice, preferred
