Phlebotomist - Tacoma

    Perform routine venipuncture and coordinate daily collections and distribution of laboratory specimens.  Prepare and process paperwork associated with the specimens.  Receives orders for laboratory tests and follows through with accuracy.  Responsible for completion of equipment maintenance and function verification and for assuring that all records of this activity are complete in the assigned area.  Serves as primary laboratory representative to the patient and hospital staff.  Responsible for completing all assigned work with accuracy and promptly on schedule. Is directly responsible to her/ his immediate supervisor (s) and will carryout their directives and is expected to act in the best interests of patient care and LabCorp.

 

Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.  Previous experience working with the public in healthcare field preferred.  Minimum of one year of verifiable phlebotomy experience, or completion of approved phlebotomy school with a minimum of 250 draws.  A valid driver’s license and good driving record may be required for some positions who staff at peripheral lab sites as required by supervisor.

 

Extensive handling and exposure of biohazards specimens and infectious agents; occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens.
